From the moment I stepped into this cafe, it didn’t feel as though I was in Andheri West. The greenery, the inviting yellow walls, the wooden finished tables, the spiraling staircase, the pretty plates and chalk boards on the wall showcasing the favourites of the day, all of the smaller details made this cafe stand out. Away from all the hustle this huge space is tucked away in Oshiwara. They have an outside seating area which is large enough to have a live performance or an event.
From the makers of Home Made Cafe, television actors Simple Kaul, Addite Malik along with Vatsala Rajeev Raj who is a media professional bring to Mumbai a brand new 1 BHK (Brew House Kitchen). The interiors have bright appealing colours and artefacts from the owner’s homes and travels. The space has a simplistic yet cozy vibe to it, not only when it comes to the interiors but the food menu as well. The menu is handcrafted by Chef Mithlesh (ex TAG by Ranveer) and it contains a range of soups, salads, pizzas, burgers, mains, desserts, smoothies, teas and coffee.
The varied food menu is simplistic in terms of the dish’s being offered but the elements used in most of these simple dishes are very unique. They have a wide variety of options for those looking to eat clean. They serve breakfast till 7 P.M. and the menu has some interesting options like the fluffy mushroom and brie omelette, quinoa+amaranth+nachni upma, french toast, avocado dukkha toast(personal favourite) and apple pie crepes. The coffee being served at 1 BHK is from Blue Tokai Roasters and all their breads and pastry is baked in house (their pita bread is one of the best I’ve had in the city)
The overall space, ambiance, staff and food of 1 BHK Mumbai is homely and comforting. I’d highly recommend trying out the sandwiches, breakfast, soups and the burgers at 1 BHK.
